The Heyfield FNC are devastated at the loss of our former player & club member Ben Kelly. Ben played all his Junior Footy at Heyfield as well as playing for Gippy Power. a member of the 1998 premiership side and his ample ability and awesome physique was making him into a key player. In 1999 Ben decided to advance in his football and moved to neighbouring town sale to play in the Gippsland Latrobe football league. He was a heyfield boy at heart and returned the following year to play with his mates and help us to a fourth straight premiership in 2000. It was this year that Ben completely dominated the competition and resulted In him blowing his rivals away in the league best and fairest with I think 9 best on grounds. He also finished runner up in the club best and fairest. More importantly than his football prowess was the type of bloke he was. He was integral in all off field socialising and ” team bonding”. His infectious nature and will to encourage his teammates to give there all on and off the field will be ever lasting memories for us fortunate enough to play with this champion bloke in this era of the heyfield football club. He went on to play at Williamstown & Spotswood & was Coaching Co ordinator at Williamstown Juniors. We send our sincere condolences to Maud and Shane Kelly, Dave Kelly, Sarah Kelly, Carly, Judd, Nate Austin, & their extended families
